Energised Weekend – Beginner to GB Team!

What a weekend – where to begin… and you have a Bank Holiday tomorrow to review and set your next 3-6months goals – good times!

So yesterday Andy Bullock (www.escoach.co.uk) and I ran a Beginner’s Triathlon Workshop – really good group of people. I love coaching people and supporting them complete their first triathlon – so rewarding helping people realise they CAN do it.  So after lots of questions and answers, and a mini triathlon I packed up the car and headed up to Belvoir Castle for the Sprint Triathlon National Championships.

So many Energised athletes and friends racing – constantly inspired and motivated by some wonderful people including…. Mel Ryding http://www.melanieryding.co.uk) , Matt Fisher (www.triathletesdiary.com), Helen Russell, Ivan Newman (http://ivannewman.blogspot.com), Tim Pocock, Felicity Cole, Doug Walker all at the Speedy Beaver – recording PB’s, qualifications to China & Israel – big well done!!You will find most of these athletes on Twitter too…

And there were many athletes at other triathlons –  Dave, Rachel, Justin, Jon, Kate, Alison, David and many more at the Gloucester & Westonbirt Triathlon! Great results from you all – well done too.

I thought since I was popping up to watch all my athletes, catch up with Malcolm Westwood from British Triathlon, Nirvana Crew (see you in Spain & China!) and meet the lovely, talented and inspiring Michelle Dillon (www.teamdilloncoaching.com) … I should get racing!

After my double charity challenge of the London Marathon and Caledonian Etape (totally loved this race – highly recommend it, 81 miles of beautiful scenery, hills and flats – best fun ever!) a couple of weeks ago (www.virginmoneygiving.com/energisedperformance) , its safe to say I was only warming up after the first hour and definately still recovering from the challenges. I knew this would be the case, but due to family weddings, and graduations, racing days are limited before I head to my first Age Group European’s to race (usually I work as a GB Sports Therapist & NLP Coach, as I will be in China) at the end of June.

So to summarise my race and pracise what I preach … three good things: 1. Overall felt pretty strong through the whole raceand had fun! 2. Breathing in swim was good, no asthma with the cold, good times 3. Happy with transitions for first race in the season

Two things to work on: 1. Allow full recovery – focus light sessions –  core/flexibility for this week

2. Shorter, faster sessions on the bike & Quality Brick sessions (TT bike – should I try one!)

One overall point: I feel privaleged working with such talented athletes, and I really look forward to helping them towards their next races!

I love racing myself for fun – trying lots of different challenges, the variety and seeing what is possible! Who know’s what I will get up to next…. 🙂

At Energised we are not all about triathlon but this weekend it has been! So for all our athletes out and about, you guys rock! It is a pleasure working with you all – mental strength, sports massage and coaching – well done. Have a great Bank Holiday Monday!

Make sure you keep us posted with your race reports and any questions just let us know.
