#ThursdayTherapy: Health Walks

EP Massage Therapist Gail started her Health Walk Leader Training this week; a government initiative started 10 years ago, now funded & organised by the Ramblers & Macmillan Cancer Support.

Most of us know about and are fully capable of reaching the recommended weekly activity level to benefit our health. Some people unfortunately, and for many different reasons, struggle to achieve that. The Health Walks are for those people, a free, safe, supportive, sociable group to get them starting to be more active, sometimes providing a lifeline to the outside world.

I wanted to take part and volunteer to lead walks because it can be daunting to go out alone or not wanting to move out of your comfort zone or physically not able to go far, to have these walks as the first stepping stone for those who need it most. The walks organised range from 10 minutes to 90 minutes, are flat and structured, and can include a walking buddy to encourage walkers.
