Argentina Training….

At the end of last year I decided that I would like to set myself a challenge during my 30th year, initially to raise £3,000 – which has now evolved into £30,000 in my 30th year!  I will be keeping you updated on the progress towards this target and you can see how I am doing my looking at the Charity page on the website too!

I am hoping to raise the money for a variety of charities including The Princes Trust, Beatbullying, Penny Brohn Cancer Care, Child Hope & Spafford Children.  I plan to do this by doing lots of challenging things – including the Trans Andes Challenge & organising and hosting the Strictly Energised Charity Ball (tickets selling fast – contact us for more info…) amongst other things!!

In less than three weeks I will be heading to South America to trek 1,500km from Argentina to Chile, through the Andes on a horse, over only 8 days!  Whilst I know this will be one of The most Amazing experiences of my life, I have no doubt that it will also be one of the most challenging – with high alititude, extreme temperatures and at least ten hours a day in the saddle – when I will walk properly again is unknown!

So what have I been up to training for the challenge?!  Well – as some of you know I used to ride everyday and compete at International Three Day Events for many years.  However, for the last two years I have been competing at Triathlon – a bike not a horse!  So I am lacking hours in the saddle……..but I have been training hard in the gym.  Lots of wide leg squats, deadlifts and hill climbing to strengthen my lower back, stomach musles and inner thighs!  Hopefully it’s working……and I have been riding a few horses which comes back naturally and is a pleasure to do again.

So whilst the training continues to go well and I have had my seven injections (slight dead arms!)- all that leaves me to do is pack the rucksack and head off into the Andes on 1st Feb – I shall keep you all posted and put photos on the gallery on my return!

If you would like to sponsor me and help raise money for the very worthwhile Princes Trust please visit – thank you!  If you are interested in corporate sponsorship or media information please contact

After the Trans Andes Challenge and the Strictly Energised Ball – thoughts of cycling from Lands End to John O’Groat and swimming to the Isle of White have been floated around…….any other ideas are welcome!
