Energised Event Massage Team Out and About

Carpenters Tavern, Dundry

The last week has seen Bristol’s cycling city status come into it’s own with the Bristol Cycle Festival and the Great Weston Ride sportive.

The cycling festival had a great mix of speedy Dundry Drubbers (4 times up Dundry Hill – ouch), the Vintage Velo ride for those wantinga bit of classic style, to maintenance workshops and many more events throughout the week.t Weston Ride sportive.

I was at the Dundry Drubber on the 13th giving post ride massage support to the 48 riders when they finished at the Carpenters Tavern. Aside from it being tough ride it was also a very hot day but that didn’t stop them – well maybe the unicyclist but he gave it a good try anyway. This Sunday saw the cycle festival close with a Tour of CUBA (counties that used to be Avon) using the Avon Cycleway.
We also had the Great Weston Ride sportive in support of Prostate Cancer UK on Sunday. The ride was so popular that they closed to new registrations a few days before – 880 riders took part.

Supporting the riders were repair crews, rest stop crews, marshalls and finish line crews giving out medals and much needed water and energy bars. Also on site were a team providing post ride massage: myself, Ross, Andrew and Venard worked our socks off with a healthy queue outside the massage tent for a good 4 hours. Treatments were for donations and we raised an extra £120 for the charity. Excellent work all round from the riders and staff, can’t wait for next year.
