Tuesday 1st March, 8-9pm at David Lloyd, Greystoke Avenue, Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol BS10 6AZ

A special opportunity to get a taste of meditation from an expert. Learn about the basic principles of meditation, how it works, and what it can do for you. Discover a powerful self-help tool for promoting relaxation and inner calm, and for improving your mental clarity and focus. The session will include a guided meditation so that you can get some direct experience as well, and there will be plenty of time to ask questions.

There is increasing evidence to support the health and sporting benefits of meditation. Studies have shown an association between regular meditation and a reduced need for health care, increased sports performance, calmness and focus. Meditation has been found to help in the alleviation of chronic pain/injury which is not otherwise responding to standard medical treatment, as well as in reducing high blood pressure, muscular tension, stress, anxiety etc.

Sam May is a highly experienced meditation teacher and the founder of Lucent, a Bristol-based enterprise offering secular meditation instruction for health and wellbeing. He has been meditating for the past 17 years, 11 of which he spent as a Buddhist monk. In addition to teaching meditation, Sam is a qualified acupuncturist and a health consultant for complementary and alternative medicine.
