Last month I was featured in Psychologies Magazine in an issue about Modern Day Super Women, which I feel truly grateful and excited about.

The issue is packed full of great things around relationships, having more fun, identity and much more. I really enjoyed the interview with Brie Larson too, she’s smart, strong and savvy.

In the article I reveal what happened to me 4 years ago when I contracted Weil’s disease which then led to secondary encephalitis, a major setback which put my life on hold temporarily. I was unable to do anything and the picture was bleak for me at that time.

A year later I made the decision to get my life back on the right track, not with treatment but by making sensible choices and life-style adjustments, upping my fitness regime, being smarter about nutrition and adjusting my mindset. These are some of the most powerful changes you can make to overcome adversity.

One of the key points I make in the interview is that I feel so incredibly lucky to have come through an event such as this, because it has given me an entirely new perspective and the ability to form deep connections with others who I help find strength.  It’s taught me that we, as humans are built for resilience and we are capable of overcoming fear and living our lives to the fullest.

A second key point I make is that you don’t need to prove that you’re fine all the time, it’s ok to show vulnerability. Real strength is recognising the importance of nurturing yourself so that you are equipped to deal with anything life throws at you.
