Artic Girls Return…

The Girls on Top of the World Team return from the North Pole…

In October 2006 Sam Long approached me looking for sponsorship for her team’s challenge to the North Polar – the Polar Venture!  Each individual needed to raise £17k – so I decided to offer Energised Performance’s training and NLP knowledge to help them with their adventure.  For the following six months I helped them with a tough schedule of tyre pulling, sand dune running and much more!

Then in May 2007 the girls set out to Canada for the trip of their lives – and the biggest challenge they have ever done.  I must say – I feel privileged to have been part of their training and I am amazingly proud and in awe of their achievement.  I was lucky enough to go to their Awards Ceremony last weekend and hear first hand what the experience was like.  For some it was the hardest and most difficult thing they had ever done, for others it was the most rewarding and challenging thing.  Yet, each and every person gained something from it. Some are now planning the South Pole or Everest…

The conditions they endured we cannot even begin to relate to – temperatures of -50 degress, complete white outs and pulling weights of over 60kg for hours and hours a day.  On average they walked for 19 hours a day, slept for 4 and lost two stone each.  All the girls, aside from one suffered from Artic thigh, an intense form of blistering and severe itching that still has to heal and many suffered from frostbite and hypothermia.  I cannot begin to do their challenge justice in my words – safe to say that I would like to congraulate them so much for such an amazing achievement and look forward to hearing about their next challenge!

Sam Long is taking part in the challenge in 2008 and is looking for a third team member so if it takes your fancy – let me know and get yourself to the first group training session on 22nd July – you know you want to?!!  iI this seems like a bit to much then how about the Commando Challenge on 15th October – more info to follow!

If you would like to hear more about their amazing adventures and listen to their stories then come along to the Energised Summer Meal on Tuesday 31st July.
