Wow – what an amazing night the Strictly Energised Charity Ball was on Friday 21st March!  It truly was one of the most special, inspiring and exciting evenings, with guests travelling from all over the country to be part of this special night.

Firstly I would like to thank the Sponsors – The Post Production Community in Bristol – Films @ 59, Doghouse Post Production & Big Bang Post Production for their generous support towards the evening, helping us to raise even more funds for the very worthwhile charities – Beatbullying & Penny Brohn Cancer Care.

I would also like to thank Camilla, Ian & Gethin for such a wonderful night – they really added to the evening, making it truly special and I am so very grateful to them all for coming and being part of the evening. You are all super stars!

So how was it……. well, after decided five months ago to send an email to Camilla and that a Ball would be a good way of raising money for charity, and helping towards the £30k findraising target in my 30th year it was quite surreal when it actually happened!

I arrived at the hotel around lunchtime with my wonderful assistant organiser Karen Morris – to start decorating, sound checks, lighting, dancing, and run through the evening with my co host Gethin, the dancers Camilla & Ian and Peter the Auctioneer. We had quite a laugh with scripts that I had prepared and comparisons were made to Blue Peter etc……it was good, as it gave me an insight into the ‘banter’ I possibly would be subjected to when hosting so I started to prepare a few come back lines – should I need them!

And then, following a radio interview and press photo call the night began, with amusing banter and entertainment for the guests between Gethin and I, absolutely amazing dancing between Gethin & Camilla, and beautiful, inspiring and breathtaking dancing between Camilla & Ian….. words cannot express the passion, energy, focus and power that live dance can have – accept safe to say many of the guests I saw in tears, and I think most people I spoke to had goosebumps during the rumba!

Following on from the amazing dancing, we had a successful Auction and were then taught a dance – the Cheeky Cha Cha Cha by Ian & Camilla – taking 190 guests to a small dancefloor was quite something.  I think nearly every guest took part from the rugby lads and body builders, to Gethin Girls (who were brilliant fun and so supportive) and a wild group from Scotland! It was brilliant, everyone had such fun – and they were fantastic teachers…..

And this went straight into the Band – Organ, who played a fantastic two hour set, with the raffle inbetween.  I think at 1am nearly all the guests were still dancing and we had a job getting them to leave the room!

So overall it was a really wonderful night and we have definately raised at least £5,000 for the charities – I will confirm the final amount in a couple of weeks.  Since this is the first time I have organised any event, or presented anything out of my tracksuit I am really excited and pleased that we managed to raise so much, and that everyone had such a great time.

I cannot thank everyone enough for coming along, being part of the event and making it happen!  You are all stars – especially Karen, Kalpna, Dee and Nic who have worked so hard for many months.  And thank you also to those people who helped on the night, Fred, Dan, Rob, Jamie, Rachel, Vix, Anna, Jo, Mat – the list is so long – but you know who you are and I am so very grateful – thank you!

If you would like press photographs & releases or to donate and help Kim raise £30k in her 30th year please contact her directly on 07720 845849.  We will upload photos onto the Gallery over the next couple of weeks, and the portrait shots can be found on www.blacktieportraits.co.uk.

The total of Kim’s fundraising stands at around £10,000 – so she has about £20k to go in the next six months or so – having trekked across the Andes, completed the Tough Guy and organised the Ball she is open to suggestions ……..any crazy ideas you have please do let her know!  The next adventures will appear on the Charity page soon, and we may even have a surprise in Sept to end the fundraising but Kim will keep you posted on that one……..!
