Reflections on Potential races & training….

Following a brilliant racing weekend from Team Energised at several events all over the country I thought I would summarise Potential from our last Blog – see a couple of posts earlier!

My clients constantly inspire me and I love what I do! It doesn’t matter if the person is setting out to do their first 5km or compete in the World Championships – I do what I do because I love to help people realise their potential.

Over the last three days many Team EP have done just that, read on for the highlights and some great links to future races..

Saturday: Eton Ladies Only Shock Absorber Event – from Super Sprint to Challenge Distance

Visit: http://www.humanrace.co.uk/ for many races throughout the year.

Summary: A wonderful selection of race distances to raise money for Breast Cancer (remember our Big Bootcamp in October for Breast Cancer). There were so many ladies, in all shapes and sizes competing, with all sorts of wet suits, bikes, baskets, kit and shoes. Novices mixed with seasoned pro’s, all having a great event and experience, organised so very well by the Human Race. I would highly recommend this race to any lady in 2012 wishing take part in a great race – go for it! A big well done goes to all our athletes, including Team EP Michele Hurst competing in her second triathlon with a great result, sub 1hr 30mins – brilliant!  I raced in the Challenge Event on a press entry very kindly given by the Human Race Team – the fast laps and choice of a non wetsuit swim lead to a really enjoyable, competitive race, finishing 14th in my age group (very happy with that after the Europeans last week ) – plenty to work on and develop, but most importantly lots of FUN!

Sunday: National 70.3 Big Cow Championships & Bristol Triathlon (and for details about BAD tri training)

Visit:http://www.big-cow.com and http://www.tribristol.org/

Summary: Sophie Whitworth, one of the most talented age groupers in triathlon around rocks! She WON her age group and came 2nd overall after a HUGE week’s training at the National 70.3 Championships at the Big Cow Triathlon … Sophie is inspirational, dedicated, determined, focused and a complete pleasure to work with. Over the last year her Potential has shone through ..winning just about everything – the Golden Girl – respect! We will keep you updated on her progress to Hawaii and Kona in October.

On Sunday I marshalled with about 150 others at the second open water Bristol triathlon – such a wonderful event, really well organised and looks set to be a permenant feature, which will become a popular race on the circuit I am sure. They also had some great trade stands including MOTI, The Triathlon Shop and TRIGIRL Clothing – check their sites out. If you live in Bristol and fancy trying a triathlon then visit the BAD tri site – open to all levels, beginners to pro – its a great club and great FUN!

Monday: Blaise Blazer – race 2 of 3

Visit: http://www.westburyharriers.co.uk/promotions.html and for details about joining a the club and the Kids Westbury Wipeout race on Monday 11th July.

Summary: I love this race organised by Westbury Harriers – its a crazy, hilly (3 challenging climbs) 4 mile dash around the beautiful grounds of Blaise Castle in Bristol. They run 3 races each year on the first Monday of each month – I would highly recommend it to everyone who likes a bit of multi terrain fun! The winning time is around 20mins, still no idea how they whizz round that quickly for the second hill in particular is a big climb… I jogged around in about 31mins. Lets see what I can pull out of the bag on the 1st August when I will not have done a triathlon the day before! Team EP Phil and James the Greengrocer did a speedy jog around too – the Westbury Harriers are inviting, supportive and knowledgable as a cluba nd I would highly recommend popping along to a training session on Monday or Thursday evening.

So there you have some potential and places that you could go to realise yours…… let us know how you get on and if we can help at all too!

Looking to the Autumn Team Energised will be racing at a few events – why not set your goals… Stroud and Cardiff Half Marathons, Survival of the Fittest, Commando Challenge, Stratford Triathlon, Cancer Research 10km and many more to follow soon!

Happy afternoon to you all 🙂
