25 Things you Didn’t Know About our EP Coaches, 4th Sarah Greenaway…. read on!

Sarah Greenaway

Every day this week we will be profiling one of our Excellent Energised Coaches and letting you into 25 Top Things you may not have known about them.  We thought this would be a great way to get to know the team, and perhaps inspire you to share your things and even stretch your boundaries to do something different.

Fourth Up is Sarah Greenaway –  Our Newest Coach, quickly becoming popular with Pre & Post Natal, and weight loss clients. For a great offer read on to the end…

  1. I was born very close to EP HQ, in Southmead hospital.
  2. I was born on 21st July 1983, making me 29 next month.
  3. I live in east Bristol, in a little place called Willsbridge (near Longwell Green and Keynsham) with my wonderful boyfriend Jake.
  4. My small but lovely family live nearby;  my Mum, Dad and younger brother (27) who live in Warmley.
  5. Sadly I only have one grandparent left; my Nan of 83 (who has recently been diagnosed with Alzheimers –  I’m currently raising money for the Alzheimer’s Society by completing a 2012km challenge, see no. 20!)
  6. I left school at the age of 16 with 10 GCSEs to pursue A Levels at college.
  7. After A Levels, I was adamant that I wanted to go into employment rather than follow the traditional University route. I started working for the University of Bristol in 2001, working four days a week as an Admin Assistant whilst studying one day a week at college for an NVQ in Business Administration through a one year apprenticeship scheme.
  8. I then secured a full time permanent role within the Social Sciences and Law Faculty at the University looking after postgraduate students and worked there for five years alongside studying for a Bachelor degree in Business and Management with Bournemouth University via part time distance learning. Tough trying to fit it all in but good! After this I moved into a position within the Faculty of Arts as Senior Administrator, working in a busy departmental office with undergraduate students for three years.
  9. I’m currently still working full time for the University as the Student Administration Manager for the Arts Faculty, and have been here for three years. Very busy and responsible, but enjoyable and a lovely team of people.
  10. Five years ago I quit smoking… a habit that I’m not at all proud of  – but my only regret is that I didn’t quit sooner!
  11. I quit “cold turkey” after seeing my other poor Nan sadly pass away at the young age of 66 from the damage caused by years of smoking.
  12. I joined a gym and managed to completely turn my life around – not only cleaning out my lungs, but managing to shed 2.5 stone in weight too!
  13. It was from these two life changing successes that a passion for health and fitness was sparked! From a young age I knew I always wanted to teach, but didn’t ever feel passionate enough about a subject within the education system to follow this field. I suddenly had a light bulb moment… why don’t I share my passion for health and fitness and teach others? I am proud to be part of the Energised Team and look forward to working with you all.
  14. I absolutely loved the spin classes at my local gym but realised I couldn’t learn to teach them myself without first becoming a Gym Instructor. So I signed up for a Gym Instructor course, followed by my Spin qualification.
  15. I started teaching spin classes and loved them, but knew immediately that I didn’t want to stop there… and completed my REPs Level 3 Personal Training Diploma with Premier Training International – what a great course!
  16. I’m currently working with personal training clients and teaching three spin classes a week, alongside my full time job at the University. It’s busy and people often ask me how I manage to do so much, but I always say I guess that’s what you do when you’re genuinely passionate about something.
  17. I started working with Kim and the Energised Performance team earlier this year – exciting times. Everything Team EP stands for is truly inspiring and a real pleasure to be part of!
  18. I also specialise in pre and post natal fitness. I’ve met such a wonderful bunch of ladies so far and feel really honoured to be part of their special journey. Every single one has their own experience and it’s great to be a part of this and make a real difference.
  19. I really love cycling and have recently bought my first good bike – it’s a hybrid, I’ve named her “Rita”! (she’s a ‘Specialized Vita’)
  20. I’ve just taken on my first charity challenge… the 2012km Gold Challenge, to complete 2012km before the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games on 27th July – either cycling, walking, running, rowing or swimming. Now you know just how much I love my new bike, you won’t be surprised to hear how I’ll be completing most of my kilometres!
  21. On a recent trip to London, I’ve just had my first experience of Boris bikes and track cycling at Herne Hill Velodrome – both brilliant! Both style of bikes completely different to what I’m used to – both challenging in different ways, but great fun and I can’t wait to do it again!
  22. I love lifting heavy weights. Discovering CrossFit just over six months ago completely transformed my own training. Most sessions involve big Olympic lifts – achieving things you never thought your body could do! It’s as much a mental challenge as it is a physical one.
  23. I’m off on holiday next month to Sorrento in Italy with Jake – neither of us have been before but we’ve been told we’ll fall in love with the place. We’re also fortunate enough to regularly visit Devon where Jake’s originally from, so it’s lovely to be able to visit his family and see some of the beautiful corners Devon has to offer.
  24. When I’m not working or training, I really enjoy cooking. My body seems to have realised the evils of wheat, and so I’m constantly looking for new ideas and inspiration for delicious meals in the kitchen. You should see the piles of recipe books and post its!
  25. My attention span is ridiculously short. If a film doesn’t grab me in the first ten minutes or so I’m usually off doing other things and pottering around the house! I love reading though, and can often be found with my head in a book – be it one about fitness or nutrition, or more recently the Hunger Games trilogy.
