#WednesdayWorkout: Kate’s L’Étape du tour experience

EP Therapist Kate takes us through her L’Étape du tour experience and how to train for endurance cycling…

‘It was a day of triumph in Paris as Egan Bernal celebrated his official victory at the Tour de France on Sunday.’

“I watched the pros climb the alps for stage 20 of the tour in awe, fantastic experience.

This week I am recovering from L’Étape du tour, the same stage that amateurs can ride a week earlier.

It was an extremely tough day on the bike. The temperature was 34-38 degrees at times and I had to dig deep to keep pedalling. The scenery and crowds kept me going, especially the man with the hose before Les Menuires – thank you!

I found this article useful when preparing for the event.

Laura Scott talks about fuelling properly and recovery drinks.

I have found this recovery drink from ‘Skinny weeks and weekend feasts – Gizzi Erskine’ works a treat post ride.

1 small ripe banana – peeled and chopped.
1 tbsp smooth peanut butter
1 tbsp organic whey protein powder
1/4 tsp vanilla extract
250ml semi-skimmed milk
A glassful if ice

Put all of the ingredients into a blender and blitz for about 1 minute, until everything is smooth.

Good luck with all your summer events. If you need pre or post massage use the link below to book in with me.”

Kate’s treatment hours are: Wednesdays 5.30pm – 8.30pm and Fridays 5.30pm – 7.30pm, you can book in with Kate directly here
We also recommend Optimum Nutrition protein and Lean Greens to boost recovery.
